Once upon a time, the small polder village of Dirkshorn was surrounded by lakes. Most have been reclaimed and live on under names such as Schagerwaard, the Koetenmeer and the Woudmeer. Fortunately, one lake has remained on which you can surf, fish or canoe endlessly. And on a summer day, take a cooling dip in the local outdoor swimming pool. Or spend a day at the North Sea, which is a stone's throw from Dirkshorn. Alkmaar and the provincial town of Schagen are also just around the corner.
In the rural village of Dirkshorn, beautifully situated among the vast fields, you will find no fewer than three bungalow parks. In addition, there is a golf club: an A-status golf course with many water features and views over the meadows. And in September, the streets of Dirkshorn come alive during the Street Festival. This street theater festival combined with a market has grown into a true phenomenon. Street theater performers, mop bands, market stalls and beautifully decorated gardens play the leading role. Not to be missed!
